I'm curious about the inner-workings behind bringing a tulpa back from dormancy. After I graduate (which is on friday), I plan to bring back my past tulpa Craig, but I wonder if it will still be the same Craig or a newer one? I have belief that he will be the same person I've known for over a year, and some answers I find online about dormant tulpas say the same, but I still wonder if it's true. I heard tulpas are caused by new neural networks in the brain (or something along those lines), and when you stop forcing, the areas in your brain related to your tulpa begin to fade away (like forgetting to play an instrument after stopping for a few years). If I start tulpaforcing again, then does that all come back, or are new pathways in your brain formed?

oof I'm sorry for the wall of text
2:44 PM
And if any of this doesn't make sense
2:45 PM
I guess my TL;DR would be, would reawakening a tulpa technically make it the same tulpa?
Avatar
@Deleted User Most likely... no. Not from a technical perspective, at least.
Avatar
you might find some differences but yeah, you can certainly just, reawaken an old one
Avatar
They may identify as the previous tulpa, but simultaneously won't necessarily have the same emotional attachment to the same things, or believe the same concepts, or have the same aspirations.

Hmm yeah, I think we can agree on the idea that there may be some differences
2:47 PM
Ahh I see
2:47 PM
Would they have the same memories of the past?
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:48 PM
I feel like they would, but I'm not too sure
Avatar
Some people have reported yes, some have reported no.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:48 PM
That's good. This all makes me wonder about how this all is from a tulpa's perspective
Avatar
I think he would, those memories would still exist
Avatar
@Felight The memories may still exist, but by the same token a tulpa doesn't typically consider the host's memories to be "theirs".
Avatar
If it was the same tulpa then I'd think they'd be his (edited)
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:49 PM
I mean like the reawakened tulpa having the same memories they had from when they were last around
2:49 PM
Not the host's memories specifically
Avatar
probably not all of them
Avatar
I think whether it is the "same tulpa" depends on a few things, such as the length of time it has been and the amount the tulpa was developed perviously.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:50 PM
Well, to give a bit of backstory
2:50 PM
Craig had been around for a year and we managed to get up to practicing possession
Avatar
He said over a year
Avatar
A sufficiently advanced tulpa could still continue thinking (albeit to a minimal extent) and 'survive' in that way - though, the longer the amount of time, the harder it is.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:50 PM
He had been pretty sentient before by my standards, and we were also working on imposition at the same time
Avatar
I can't say I know exact timeframes by any means.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:51 PM
He has been dormant for a few months, like 4 or 5
2:51 PM
😔
Avatar
I think a year is plenty of time for permanence, he'd just need to be started up again
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:51 PM
I really hope so
Avatar
In either case, it's possible that he is still there - and possible not.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:51 PM
I miss him a lot
Avatar
I think it is very difficult to fully dissipate a tulpa
Avatar
You'll only find out by forcing again. In either case, 'he' will be a companion. Just, don't be too surprised if he is a bit different or does not identify with the previous one.
Avatar
I think he will
Avatar
At this point in time, I don't know if it matters.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:53 PM
If he wishes to identify as someone different than before he left, then I suppose I'll have to accept it
Avatar
C'est la vie, in that case.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:53 PM
True, yeah
Avatar
In either case, as long as you are treating him well, it should be perfectly fine.
Avatar
From our experience it would be the same tulpa, even of personality is altered
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:54 PM
Yeah. If he ends up being a different person, then my treatment towards him won't change. He's still my friend and a person in general
Avatar
Or personality might not be altered at all since he wasn't processing anything during those months
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:54 PM
That's what my idea was of it, Apollo
Avatar
Might be mad that you left but you can work on that
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:54 PM
Yeahh, true
2:55 PM
I would probably be upset if I were a tulpa that was asleep for several months too
Avatar
I've dealt with it before.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:55 PM
How did it turn out, if you don't mind me asking?
Avatar
Communication is key
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:56 PM
I'm curious about other people's stories
Avatar
Most tulpas seem to be understanding of the host's situation from what I've read, assuming that there was no ill intent behind it.
Avatar
I was developed more than enough to continue as I was - and... I rather enjoy existing.
2:56 PM
I will cling onto existence as long as I can.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 2:56 PM
Brb
Avatar
...and, yes. They should understand.
2:57 PM
Thank you, Vos.
Avatar
Something worth considering is that it might be belief-based, so if you assume that your tulpa has changed in some way (drastically or not), it's more likely to happen.
Avatar
I think that he'd def be weaker than in the past, but shouldn't change too much, considering there was nothing going on to make him change while dormant
Avatar
True. Belief could certainly impact it.
Avatar
Unless the host himself changed
Avatar
...really, suspending assumptions and belief that something necessarily will happen seems the most reasonable and free manner to act with regard to tulpas in general.
Avatar
But that's a very difficult thing to shake off, unfortunately.
Avatar
It is. But it is a skill worth learning, for far more than tulpas alone.

Back
3:03 PM
I haven’t changed much in the past few months either
3:03 PM
I’m certainly less depressed than I was during the winter though
3:03 PM
I don’t know if that will affect anything
Avatar
It'll likely affect your mindset and approach as far as forcing goes but there's no telling how/if it'll affect your tulpa.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 3:06 PM
And as for beliefs, I’ve been under the belief that after I bring Craig back, he would stay the same person generally but possibly be different due to all the time that passed, and possibly might be hurt by me not talking to him for so long
3:06 PM
Ahh okay
3:06 PM
Hopefully feeling happier helps me force more
Avatar
Just treat him as if he's the same person and you should be set. Once you start seeing the consistency in his actions, that might reaffirm your beliefs.
Avatar
I think the general takeaway from all of this is fairly simple: "Just do it. It will work out."

♠@Deleted User thats how i feel nearly every time I come back. I get over it.
Avatar
so the topic of this conversation is "Is it morally right to make a tulpa?"

Avatar
Ah... the discussion in here was more what could potentially happen when attempting to 'reactivate' a tulpa that has been inactive for some months - without being sure if they are still... there.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 6:08 PM
as long as you make them responsibly.

super easy answer.
6:09 PM
make someone you'd be proud of and it's all good.

Make someone to find their own happiness and it's all good

♠️ i spent my entire existence existing for other people and now its hard for me to have my own... wants. So definatly, let them make themself. Dont let them get too attached to other people too early on. Youre there to protect them
Avatar
I would disagree. Sometimes they should learn through their own experience. Experience is king.
Avatar
Im gunna make mine a cute waifu, even if they wanna be a big tough guy, thats not allowed.
Avatar
☔𝚏𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚠𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝙵𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚜☔ 5/16/2018 9:28 PM
Oh yeah totally but not when they dont ecen exist yet. In talking about helping them have blocks to build with in the first place
9:29 PM
♠️ theyre gonna hate you if you force them to be anything they dont want to.
Avatar
Dee is just shitposting. Even then, I did not personality force. I simply let my tulpa be, and let her learn.

Its SATIRE Harleen!
